Democracy Training for the “Leaders for the Future” Program | 2021 |
Edmaaj delivered democracy training as part of the “Leaders for the Future” Program led by the Tawakkol Karman Foundation, aimed at educating and empowering youth across the Arab region. The program provided training on democratic principles, governance, and civic responsibility, targeting more than 700 students.
Edmaaj developed interactive training materials covering topics such as the foundations and goals of democracy, the Universal Declaration on Democracy, principles of democratic governance, and good citizenship. Two structured training sessions were conducted, combining lectures, group exercises, and practical simulations to equip youth with the knowledge and skills needed to participate actively in public life.
Participant feedback was collected throughout the sessions and used to refine the training content and methodology. The program strengthened young people’s understanding of democratic values and supported their development as engaged, responsible citizens.
Training Manual Development and Capacity Building for Human Rights and Civic Space in Jordan | 2020–2021 |
Edmaaj supported the “Strengthening the State of Human Rights and Civic Space in Jordan” project by developing a training manual and delivering capacity-building support to civil society organizations (CSOs). The project aimed to promote human rights, strengthen civic space, and equip CSOs with tools to influence public policy and advocate for rights-based reforms.
Edmaaj developed a comprehensive training manual covering coalition building, campaign management, advocacy strategies, human rights monitoring, media and communications, and policy engagement. Trainings were delivered to partner community-based organizations (CBOs) through structured sessions focused on campaign design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
In collaboration with Leaders Without Borders (LWB), Edmaaj also designed a methodology and tool for a civic space and human rights observatory. The team provided one-on-one coaching to partner CSOs, supporting them in developing and rolling out rights-based advocacy campaigns tailored to their local contexts.

Edmaaj delivered institutional capacity-building support for civil society organizations (CSOs) working on community cohesion, as part of a project led by the Norwegian Embassy and Al Hayat Center. The training aimed to strengthen CSO capacity to prevent violent extremism and promote social resilience across Jordanian communities.
The program began with a two-day online training on needs assessment methodologies for 15 partner CSOs, enabling them to identify community priorities and produce detailed assessment reports. This was followed by a two-day training on project design and management, covering topics such as monitoring and evaluation, stakeholder engagement, communication, and sustainability.
Edmaaj provided ongoing consultation and coaching to support the implementation of community-based initiatives. Handout materials were developed for each training topic, and final reports documenting project outcomes were submitted. The initiative significantly improved the ability of CSOs to design and implement impactful, community-driven responses to social cohesion challenges.
Research on Civil Society Innovations in Jordan | 2020–2021 |
Edmaaj conducted research on civil society innovations in Jordan as part of a regional initiative led by the Arab Reform Initiative (ARI), which also included Morocco and Tunisia. The study focused on how Jordanian civil society organizations (CSOs) have adapted their internal structures and external outreach strategies in response to post-2011 challenges, with the aim of promoting democracy, ensuring sustainability, and maintaining autonomy.
The research involved a comprehensive literature review, mapping of innovative CSOs, and the development of tailored interview guides. Edmaaj conducted semi-structured interviews with civil society actors to explore emerging practices in governance, communication, and advocacy. Findings were shared and discussed through a series of webinars held across the region.
The final report provided actionable insights and recommendations for donors, practitioners, and policymakers to strengthen innovation and resilience within Jordanian civil society.
Institutional Capacity Building on Local Public Policy Monitoring for CSOs in Tunisia | 2020 |
Edmaaj supported the institutional capacity development of NDI’s partner civil society organizations (CSOs) in Tunisia to enhance their ability to monitor public policies at the local level. The project aimed to improve the performance tracking of elected officials, strengthen monitoring strategies, and promote accountability and transparency through stakeholder engagement.
Edmaaj developed comprehensive training materials covering public policy monitoring methodologies, data collection tools, SMART indicator development, and reporting techniques. The team delivered a series of virtual workshops and provided tailored support to each partner CSO, helping them adapt monitoring tools to their specific contexts and design customized monitoring strategies.
One-on-one coaching sessions guided CSOs in implementing their monitoring plans, engaging with relevant stakeholders, and effectively reporting their findings. The project contributed to strengthening local governance through evidence-based advocacy and improved oversight of public service delivery.
Coalition Building and Advocacy Training for Civil Society Organisations |2020|
Edmaaj delivered a nationwide advocacy and coalition-building training for civil society organizations (CSOs) in partnership with the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) at the University of Jordan and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The initiative targeted 90 CSOs with the aim of strengthening their ability to influence public policy and lead social change in their communities.
Edmaaj developed and delivered tailored training materials covering advocacy strategies, coalition-building techniques, and social accountability. Multiple workshops were conducted across Jordan, incorporating interactive exercises, case studies, and group discussions to support practical application of key concepts.
The training enhanced CSOs’ capacity to participate in policy-making processes and engage effectively with government institutions. Participant feedback was used to continuously refine the training materials, ensuring they responded to the specific challenges faced by CSOs and increased the overall impact of their advocacy initiatives.
