Edmaaj conducted the national study “Unseen Journeys: Obstacles Faced by Women Survivors to Access GBV Services in Jordan” in collaboration with UNFPA and AECID, aiming to identify barriers preventing women survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) from accessing essential services across the justice, health, and social sectors. The study, implemented in 2023–2024, adopted a mixed-methods approach involving 577 online surveys, 10 focus group discussions with Jordanian and refugee women, and 28 key informant interviews with government, NGO, and international stakeholders. Findings revealed that limited awareness, confidentiality concerns, social stigma, and economic dependency were among the primary barriers hindering access to GBV services, particularly for women with disabilities, refugees, and those in rural areas. Edmaaj’s recommendations emphasized the establishment of integrated one-stop centers, strengthened legal protection and confidentiality mechanisms, expanded public awareness efforts, and continuous capacity-building for service providers, contributing to national efforts to enhance GBV prevention and response frameworks in Jordan.
